President’s Message, January 2023

Hello Winter!

Our snowbirds are returning and excitement is building as the time nears for Splash! I am anxious to see the entries and all the visitors over the weekend of February 18th-19th. The show is being held at the  Azan Temple located at 1591 West Eau Gallie Blvd, Melbourne FL 32915. Doors will be open from 10am-4pm.

For our non-members, reading this, this show is what opened my eyes to the Brevard Water Color Society. So many beautiful paintings, informative demos and hundred’s of art enthusiasts. It isn’t just for watercolor artists! It’s for anyone who loves art in general, watercolor in particular and for those wanting to explore this medium . Admission is free! Please plan to join us. There will be a raffle and some fabulous silent auction items.

Be sure to visit the Eau Gallie Library and see the paintings our members have on display. Each month will be a new theme.

On the business side, we have a current need for a Vice President whose role is to coordinate the 2-3 day workshops. This year’s artists are scheduled and we have a list of suggestions for 2024 scheduling. It isn’t difficult, just requires some good organization skills on the volunteer’s part. A great perk to this one is being able to attend the workshops for free. Our wonderful Webmaster will be rolling off her position at the end of the year. We’d like to start getting someone familiar in the role now.

March will bring Barbara Brook our way with a 2-day workshop, March and 12 and 13th, with a demo during the General meeting. I have enjoyed talking with her and I think you’ll enjoy this former member’s workshop.

I am so appreciative of all of the member/volunteers who help keep the business side of this non-profit running, those making the art shows happen, and those teaching and improving our skills. There are so many that do so much. You have all been so helpful in getting me acclimated and getting some tough tasks accomplished. I treasure you.
