DESCRIPTION:THIS WORKSHOP IS NOW SOLD OUT.  REGISTRATION IS CLOSED!  Ed is taking names to be wait listed.  His email address is skywinded.art@gmail.com     \nThe very talented Ed Carlson is our instructor\, and the subject will be a snow scene (scroll down to see “Winter Road”). Please note time change on this workshop due to a local race\, 11:30am-3:30pm. \n\nMini workshops are free to members and are a great benefit of your membership. Our teachers are fantastic! These workshops are generally held every fourth Saturday most of the year from 10 am until 2 pm. Note that there is a time change for this workshop: 11:30 am to 3:30 pm. \nMini workshops are held in Wickham Park Community Center\, Room 1.  There is a limited amount of space in this room\, the capacity is 40 people. The teacher or the subject matter may further limit the number of participants. In the past\, we have had workshops that had a limit of 25 participants. Our Mini Workshop Chair\, Laurie Griffin\, recommends that you register early. Your registration is managed by contacting the teacher. If you have any comments or suggestions\, feel free to contact Laurie at lbgriffi@att.net. \n  \n\nSupplies \nPaints: Cerulean blue\, Prussian blue\, ultramarine blue\, purple (mauve\, or blue violet\, etc.)\, burnt sienna\, raw sienna\, Chinese white or white gouache. \nPaper: You can paint any size you prefer\, but be sure it’s 140# artist quality paper\, e.g. Arches \nSpecial supplies: Mist bottle\, something to scrape with\, e.g. old credit card\, tooth brush. And all your preferred brushes\, etc. \nThe painting is called “Winter Road”. Sketch will come later.

DESCRIPTION:“Community of Trees\,” by Kathie Benson \nEphemeral Watercolor Stamping \nKATHIE BENSON SAYS:\nWouldn’t it be great to incorporate your own designs into your artwork? Wouldn’t it be great to use designs that no one else has in your art? We are going to use items that may not last the day except in your compositions. \nEphemeral means lasting only briefly\, such as the bloom of a flower. We can take these fragile bits of nature and anything else that appeals to you and preserve their beauty in your own artistic compositions. Looking at the patterns in flowers and leaves close-up may inspire you to include them to provide interesting elements. \nWe will be arranging our ephemera (love that word) on our paper\, moving the different pieces around until the composition of shapes is pleasing to you. We will try an assortment of techniques to enhance each piece with color applied in different ways. In the end\, none of the original objects will remain on the paper unless you feel you absolutely must glue a few down. Bring “Yes!” glue or some other medium to glue pieces down if you think you want to do that. \nI will be bringing some dried orchids and other flowers and fresh items and leaves of exotic plants.
