SUMMARY:Quick Sketch Portraits in Watercolor with Pam Wenger
DESCRIPTION:Learn to paint portraits in watercolor in a spontaneous style that involves minimal layering and the use of transparent colors. In this workshop\, we will analyze some of the common mistakes that are made when working on portraits in watercolor and look at examples of successful watercolor portraits by artists from around the world. \n“My portrait paintings are my real love – it’s hard to explain the excitement of trying to connect with the essence of a person through their expression… their pose… their placement in the composition.” – Pam Wenger \nPainting portraits in watercolor can seem like a daunting task\, but many of us can’t resist the urge to try it. We may have a loved one who we’d like to paint or we may simply be drawn to the challenge of capturing an interesting character on paper. It’s so easy to “tighten up” our portrait paintings because of our focus on “getting it right.” \nIn this 3-Day workshop you will focus on loosening up the portrait painting process and working to achieve a more relaxed look that highlights the beauty and freshness of the watercolor medium. Pam will share her process with you and encourage you to create your own. \nDays 1 & 2 – you will paint from Pam’s references\, using the partially pre-drawn portraits she provides.\nDay 3 – you will work from your own reference on your own paper. \nHours\n9:00am to 4:00pm \nCost\n$350 for BWS members\, $400 for nonmembers.\n$50 deposit required to reserve your spot.\nFinal payment due by 11/1/25.\nQuestions? Contact Laurie Griffin\, (321) 544-3041\, lbgriffi@att.net \nVisit Pam Wenger’s website at pamwenger.com. \nWorkshop is FULL! If you have registered and made a deposit\, please pay the balance by November 1\, 2025 by using the form below.\n\nRegistration Completion\nPlease enable JavaScript in your browser to complete this form.Name *FirstLastPhone *Email *Payment (choose one): *Balance after deposit (BWS Member) - $300.00Balance after deposit (Non-Member) - $350.00MessageSubmit & Pay

SUMMARY:Barbara Brook 2-Day Workshop - Watercolor Batik on Rice Paper
DESCRIPTION:WATERCOLOR BATIK ON RICE PAPER\n2-Day Workshop\n \nArtist:\nBarbara Brook \nDates:\nSunday\, March 10\, 2024 @ 9am-4pm\nMonday\, March 11\, 2024 @ 9am-4pm \nLocation:\nHester Wagner Community House \nDetails:\nLearn the basics of batik painting with returning artist and BWS Member\, Barbara Brook. The batik process involves repeatedly alternating layers of wax with watercolor paint. There is mystery and excitement involved as the painting progresses\, because it becomes increasingly difficult to see the colors and images as the wax builds up. Then\, like magic\, when the wax is removed a beautiful painting emerges. \nDuring this two day workshop we will transform a photo of the beautiful Iris into a batik painting and then paint Great White Egrets on day two. Regardless of whether you are a beginner or an advanced painter\, you will enjoy this unique process of layering paint and wax on textured rice paper. \nBarbara will be our demo guest at the General Meeting\, 1-3 pm\, Saturday\, March 9\, 2024\, Wickham Park Community Center. \nThe rice paper\, melting pots\, and wax will be supplied. Full supply list will appear after registration is complete. \nCOST:\n$275 for Members\n$350 for Non-Members \nSpace is limited to 20 participants. Please register below: \nWe're sorry\, this workshop has reached its maximum entry capacity. Please email Teri Mahnken at bwspresident@outlook.com if you wish to be added to the waiting list.

SUMMARY:2 Day Workshop with Barbara Brook "Know Your Pallet" March 12-13\, 2023
DESCRIPTION:After many years of painting with oils\, Barbara began watercolor painting in 1991 A watercolor self portrait\, painted by her grandmother\, was her inspiration. Barbara was intrigued by the delicate brush strokes and soft\, transparent colors\, so totally different from painting with oils. \nMost of her paintings are inspired by photos she has taken during travels around the U.S. as well as  Europe\, Asia\, and Great Britain. Often a scene will capture her attention because of shadows cast by sunlight. Whether it is a picture of nature\, doors and windows on old buildings\, intriguing faces\, or an Italian fishing boat she usually knows that it will eventually become a painting. \nBarbara tries to chose subjects to paint that will appeal to others for their beauty or to capture the emotion of a scene\, such as lights glistening through a crystal vase\, or a serene landscape. Catching a glimpse of people’s everyday life also appeals to her. Evoking an emotion in the viewer is her primary purpose for painting. Her passion for painting allows her to share that love with others. \nBarbara’s paintings have earned numerous awards and recognition. She is a member of the SouthernWatercolor Society\, the Transparent Watercolor Society of America\, the Watercolor Society of North Carolina\, where she lives\, as well as the Brevard Watercolor Society. Her paintings can be see on her  website: barbaras-watercolors.com. \n“My method of teaching is to demonstrate\, while teaching techniques\, and then to give individual attention while students repeat what has been demonstrated.” \nThis class is designed to teach various techniques\, unique to watercolor painting\, and to take the frustration out of color mixing. We will explore the value of values in our paintings and the benefits of glazing. The class is for beginner and intermediate painters \n \n  \nBarbara Brook 2-day workshop registration form (ID #4112)Please enable JavaScript in your browser to complete this form.Name *FirstLastPhone *Email *Membership Status *BWS Member - - $275.00Non-Member - - $350.002 Day Workshop with Barbara Brook\n” Know Your Pallet”\nMarch 12 and 13\, 2023\, 9am-4pm each day\n Hester Wagner Community House\n6100 W Hall Drive\nMelbourne Village\, FL 32904\n $275 for BWS Members\, $350 for non-members\nSingle Line TextCommentSubmit & Pay
