DESCRIPTION:“Community of Trees\,” by Kathie Benson \nEphemeral Watercolor Stamping \nKATHIE BENSON SAYS:\nWouldn’t it be great to incorporate your own designs into your artwork? Wouldn’t it be great to use designs that no one else has in your art? We are going to use items that may not last the day except in your compositions. \nEphemeral means lasting only briefly\, such as the bloom of a flower. We can take these fragile bits of nature and anything else that appeals to you and preserve their beauty in your own artistic compositions. Looking at the patterns in flowers and leaves close-up may inspire you to include them to provide interesting elements. \nWe will be arranging our ephemera (love that word) on our paper\, moving the different pieces around until the composition of shapes is pleasing to you. We will try an assortment of techniques to enhance each piece with color applied in different ways. In the end\, none of the original objects will remain on the paper unless you feel you absolutely must glue a few down. Bring “Yes!” glue or some other medium to glue pieces down if you think you want to do that. \nI will be bringing some dried orchids and other flowers and fresh items and leaves of exotic plants.
