DESCRIPTION:Brevard Watercolor Society presents “FLORA & FAUNA AT THE REFUGE”\nJANUARY 3\, 2026 – MARCH 29\, 2026 \n“Berry Season” by Therese Payne Ferguson\, Best of Flora 2022 \nThis is a show BWS has done in partnership with the Merritt Island National Refuge beginning 23 years ago\, showcasing watercolor paintings featuring the flora and fauna seen in and around the refuge. The show is displayed at the refuge’s Visitors Center. \nThe show is scheduled when visitors from all over the world flock to the area during prime birding months\, and for the Space Coast Birding & Wildlife Festival. \nCategories for participating artists include: \nFLORA – trees\, plants\, flowers\, landscapes\nFAUNA – any animal\, bird\, water animals\, bugs – anything that breathes\nLANDSCAPES – on land and water \nArtists interested in participating may click the links below:

DESCRIPTION:Hester Wagner Community House\n6100 W Hall Drive\nMelbourne Village\, FL 32904 \nFrank Spino\, AWS\, NWS\, TWSA is a well-known watercolorist and a long time BWS member. He has moved to Maryland but is returning to lead a 2-day workshop. Frank’s work has been included in exhibitions across the country and around the world and has won numerous awards in both. \n“I am a self-taught realistic watercolorist with a lifetime of experience in commercial art. Our goal in this workshop is take your watercolors to the next level. What can I give each of you? Confidence. I want to give you the courage to pursue your vision of watercolor by helping you master the basics of still life and watercolor.  It isn’t magic… nor is it easy. DESCRIPTION:Wickham Park Community Center\n2815 Leisure Way\, Melbourne FL 32935 \nInstructor – Verne Foster\n“Cartooning is all about options and what you choose to do with them. We will be creating your own personal characters. We will be having some fun drawing. I’ll give insights into expressions and how to create the MANY\, many possible ways to develop a character. Together\, we will be drawing different facial expressions. I will demonstrate body types\, animal types and clothing or fur if any. Together we will explore the possible characteristics of your cartoon character. Then we will use watercolor to flesh it out and make the character dimensional. And perhaps put them into a scene.” – Verne Foster \nVerne has been drawing pretty much her whole life with whimsy\, comical and fun being in the forefront of her illustration style. She has illustrated and contributed to numerous published books. \nFrom 2005 to 2020 she had an award-winning cartoon strip in a canine breed magazine. \nHer business\, Pawtraits\, was an animal portrait company and she would do serious animal portraiture (mostly in pastel) along with her illustration work. Then she filtered into canine caricatures.
