SUMMARY:Watercolors of Olde Brevard
DESCRIPTION:Members of the Brevard Watercolor Society (BWS) will present Watercolors of Olde Brevard\, a series of watercolors based on pre-1955 photos of Brevard County\, at the Eau Gallie Library on Nov 6 – Dec 2\, 2023. \nHistorical societies and local residents provided BWS with original black and white photos that reveal the history and life of Brevard County prior to 1955. BWS artists applied their color interpretation of these old photos to create colorful paintings that showcase a sampling of transportation\, people\, agriculture\, buildings and boats. This year’s show will include 18 paintings; a small description of the scene will accompany each painting. The paintings may also be purchased for your collection. \nBWS originally created this series of paintings back in 2000 under the leadership of show chair Therese Ferguson. It proved so popular that it was repeated with different photos for three years running. Each year\, the exhibition traveled to locations including Kennedy Space Center\, the Florida Capitol\, Evans Library\, King Center and several of the Historical Society buildings in Brevard. SUMMARY:Tom Lynch Online 2-Day Workshop\, Dec 6-7 2023
DESCRIPTION:Part 1\, Wednesday\, Dec 6th\, 5-8 pm\nThe focus is on painting parts in several different ways\, not on a finished painting. The lessons are comprehensive and will lay the groundwork for finished paintings later. You will see TOM demonstrate and then have plenty of time to practice under his watchful eye. You will paint parts of the selected scene without the pressure of a finished painting. These practice paintings will lay the groundwork for Day 2 and last you a lifetime. You will learn to paint… WATER\, WAVES\, TREES\, WET/DRY SAND\, CLOUDS\, SKIES AND SOOO MUCH MORE. These ‘GEMS’ will give you the confidence to paint a finished painting later. \nThe demos will be taped so you can watch again while you stop\, fast forward\, rewind\, and screenshot your way to success. Enjoy my 3 camera set up for great close ups\, watching the palette\, and the finished sample painting for the day. \nPart 2\, Thursday\, Dec 7\, 5-8 pm\nYou will create with TOM a finished like the painting above\, or like one of the other examples he will provide. You can even use your own composition! You will paint with TOM in a step by step process. In this session you will learn the principles of\, FOCAL POINT\, UNITY\, VALUE CHANGE\, COLOR\, DESIGN\, and more! Tom is a master teacher and is listed as one of AMERICA’S top 20 teachers by American Artist Magazine. The demos will again be taped so you can watch in rerun for 3 weeks. Tom will showcase other examples from his studio. He will be able to see your painting and offer you suggestions.
