DESCRIPTION:Wickham Park Community Center\n2815 Leisure Way\, Melbourne FL 32935 \nInstructor – Lolly Walton\nIn our September mini workshop we’ll be unleashing our individuality by creating our unique works of art by utilizing a variety of found objects. \nLolly will demonstrate how an array of commonly used objects can add interest and texture to your paintings. She will demonstrate how she has used table salts\, Saran Wrap\, bubble wrap\, tissue paper\, and shaved watercolor pencils to add texture and interest in her paintings. You’ll then create your unique landscape or abstract. You decide… you’re the artist! \n\n“Dockside Blues” by Lolly Walton \nSupplies\nLolly will supply the following for our use during the workshop: \n\nSaran Wrap\, bubble wrap\, salts\, wax crayons\nAttendees should bring their usual watercolor supplies\nIf you have additional materials such as\, watercolor pencils a pencil sharpener\, marbles\, or tissue paper (bleeding type)\, Mr. Clean erasers\, bring them along!\n\nAbout the Artist\nIt wasn’t until 1997 when Lolly Walton took watercolor classes at Miami Dade Community College that she became “hooked on watercolor.” Then when she and her husband retired and moved to Melbourne she decided to devote her time to what she loves\, which is watercolor. She hit the ground running and hasn’t stopped. Lolly’s artwork reflects her passion for color\, texture\, and creativity. SUMMARY:Mini Workshop - Atmospheric Skies with Lynn Tweed
DESCRIPTION:Wickham Park Community Center\n2815 Leisure Way\, Melbourne FL 32935 \nIn our August mini workshop\, we’ll be CREATING ATMOSPHERE! \nFrom instructor Lynn Tweed: “I’m thinking of a blue stormy look\, or a beautiful pink orange sunset with minimal landscapes; something like these (pictured below). I’ll bring color copies of some of my favorites along with a book about painting skies that you can look through for inspiration.” \n \n \nYou’ll be using 11×15 paper for the demo\, but bring whatever size you’re comfortable with – 9×12 or 8×10 will work too. Bring your regular supplies\, along with transfer paper if you need it\, and include a large round or flat brush for painting the skies. Lynn will have brushes if you need to borrow one. \nInstructor Lynn Tweed\nLynn Tweed grew up in Florida and has an art degree from University of Florida. After a career at the space center and time raising kids\, she returned to her art roots and took up watercolor painting. She likes painting nature\, especially landscapes\, and enjoys being out with Brevard Watercolor Society’s plein air group. Lynn believes the natural world has a lot to offer\, and her loose\, painterly style can always be seen in her art work. How about just being creative and having some fun? \nThink small\, think FUN! \nThink greeting cards\, bookmarks\, thank you notes\, gift tags\, recipes and more. Use up all that leftover watercolor paper. Cut it into various small sizes and have some fun painting simple flowers\, veggies\, fruit\, cutesy animals and doodles. \nLinda will show you how simple\, fun\, and amusing these images can be. It might be a good idea to put these in little paintings in a sketchbook as a reference for future cards. Come up with your own messages or copy from cards or the internet. \nUse a hole punch and add a little ribbon or string to make them cheery. Bring your ideas; but if you don’t have any ideas of your own\, come and get a few. DESCRIPTION:Landscapes that are loose\, minimalistic and contemporary is what this workshop is all about. Let those beautiful colors flow and do the work. Create landscapes that are simple in color and design which are pleasing to the eye. \nCarol will begin by demonstrating for you the technique of wet in wet and also a dry to wet method to really get the paint flowing. \nYou will practice the timing of water and paint. Plus the all important paint-to-water ratio needed to have the colors flow into organic shapes. This will help create the contemporary landscape. SUMMARY:Painting Dynamic Wildlife Portraits & Landscapes with Donna Morrison
DESCRIPTION:Material List will be provided after you register. \nDonna will furnish two images\, one for each day. In the final afternoon we will work on unfinished paintings\, finalizing the steps needed to learn throughout the entire painting! We will also use the afternoon for one-on-one time to critique individual processes\, answer questions\, and celebrate our cleverness at all we accomplished throughout the workshop. \nPlease feel free to bring finished or in-process paintings for critiquing. \nThe class will be relaxed with no expectations of painting masterpieces. The goal will be for all to learn and have fun! \n\n \nAbout the Artist\nDonna Morrison is widely recognized for her realistic representations which include such subject matter as water birds\, landscapes\, botanicals\, all matter of critters\, and human portrayals. She enjoys painting with various mediums on a variety of surfaces and specializes in watercolor. She teaches workshops and classes and has been recognized in Watercolor Artists Magazine as a “Top 10 Watercolor Artist to Watch”. She holds signature statuses in the National Watercolor Society\, Southern Watercolor Society and the Florida Watercolor Society and has her mastership in the Florida Suncoast Watercolor Society. \nShe was born and raised in Bradenton\, Florida where she learned to love the land through her family’s activities with agriculture and coastal living. She attended Furman University in Greenville\, SC earning a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with an interest in advertising design in 1986. Post graduation she moved to Tampa\, FL where she worked as a chamber of commerce communications manager and as a graphic designer. She created and ran Bayou Graphics\, Inc which focused mainly on print design. In 2001 she sold the company and moved into fine art exclusively. \nDonna has shown her work and earned numerous awards throughout the state of Florida as well as the country at large. She is an active member of many local and state art organizations and has held board positions with the Florida Watercolor Society\, Tampa Regional Artists\, Art Center Manatee and Las Damas de Arte. She has a solo gallery in shared space with Smith Brothers Framing in Tampa\, Florida. SUMMARY:Splash! of Watercolor Art Show 2025
DESCRIPTION:The Brevard Watercolor Society’s annual art show\, “Splash! of Watercolor”\, will be held Saturday and Sunday\, February 15th and 16th\, 2025\, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm both days. This event will take place at the Azan Shriners Center\, 1591 W. Eau Gallie Boulevard\, Melbourne\, FL. Admission and parking are free. \n“Splash of Watercolor” will feature the largest exhibit and sale of watercolor paintings in Brevard County. Nearly 100 local artists\, many who have state and nationally-acclaimed works\, will be represented at the show. Student artwork from local colleges and high schools will also be presented. \nOriginal\, framed artwork will be available for sale in the main hall. Prints\, cards\, and unframed originals will also be available for sale in the adjacent Artists’ Marketplace. Ongoing activities include raffle baskets\, silent auction\, and a paint-around with participants finishing each other’s paintings which are available for sale. \nSeveral demonstration events are scheduled throughout the weekend. All are entertaining and educational (and sometimes hilarious).
