SUMMARY:Mini Workshop - Brusho Play Day with Jan Jamil
DESCRIPTION:Wickham Park Community Center\n2815 Leisure Way\, Melbourne FL 32935 \nInstructor – Jan Jamil\nWe’ll explore four basic Brusho techniques with our October theme: \n\nControlled Drop: Draw a leaf. Wet the shape with only water\, keep the Brusho bottle down close to your paper\, dropping small bits of powder inside the outline. Remember\, less is more! Let it sit for a minute to activate. Then using a damp brush\, move paint to fill in areas. Dry. Dust off any extra powder.\nWet in wet pumpkins – applying powders to pre-wet surface: Dropping/sprinkling powder on spritzed surface. Remember\, less is more! And hold the Brusho bottle down close to your paper. Tilt\, blow\, run\, blot. (Lift off excess water with paper towel or tissue). Use a brush to fill in the shape and stem areas. Dry. Use the controlled drop for sunflowers & leaves.\nEmbellishment: Using gel pens\, Posca markers\, etc after your painting has dried.\nStained Glass! Use acrylic Slick Paint to create the framework. Let it dry. Wet an individual “pane” and drop Brusho powder in to create a vibrant color area.\n\nSupplies:\n\n\n\nPaper towels\n2 Water containers\nSet of watercolors/palette\nWatercolor papers (cheap is fine)\nBacking boards to tape papers to\nDisposable gloves\nApron\nFine mist spray/spritz bottles\nMasking tape\nOld watercolor brushes\nPencil\n\n\n\nOptional things you might bring to play day (if you have it\, or you can use mine): Brusho powder pigments; fine tip markers; Posca acrylic markers; white or gold gel pen; black Tulip Slick Paint. \nBrusho Tips:\n\nLess is more! Less powder! Less water! Less messing once dropped!\nDon’t open the bottle! The best way to use Brusho is to leave the cap on but pierce the top with a thumbtack. This allows you to sprinkle a little Brusho at a time. A little goes a long way! When storing\, leave the thumbtack in as a stopper.\nIt Floats!!! Fans\, wind\, spritzing\, and hair dryers scatter powder everywhere! This ultra fine powder floats and drifts off. Turn off fans. Be careful of sprays when spritzing dry powder. Protect/cover up other areas. People with respiratory issues should probably wear a mask.\nBrusho stains everything it touches! Protect surfaces\, clothing\, manicures. Gloves recommended.\nSprinkle light colors first. Choose colors that go well together. Remember if you mix all 3 primaries it = muddy colors.\nIf you use bleach\, make sure its in a brush marker. Blot quickly. Let it dry. \nBefore framing. When thoroughly dry\, hold the painting over a large trash can and dust off the extra crystals and powder. Apply 2 or 3 coats of a high quality\, archival spray lacquer with UV protectant – like Golden or Lascaux sprays. Always use the clear lacquer first so your darks don’t dull down. You can use a matte lacquer for the final coat.\n\nCost:\nMembers – FREE\nNon-Members – $20 \nRegistration Form\nPlease complete and submit the form below to register. Questions? SUMMARY:Watercolor Impressions - Painting the Magic of Children with Janet Rogers
DESCRIPTION:Janet Rogers has been a working professional artist for over 38 years and is a nationally recognized instructor\, conducting workshops all over the United States and in Europe. She is a Signature member of the American Watercolor Society\, the Florida Watercolor Society and others. Learn more about Janet Rogers at watercolorsbyrogers.com. \nThis dynamic 2-day workshop sponsored by BWS is designed to enable participants of all levels to quickly gain confidence in approaching painting children in a more spontaneous\, intuitive and expressive way. Demonstrations\, class instruction\, individual assistance\, “show and tell”\, and a series of “fun” exercises\, will weave into class painting time. Special emphasis will be on achieving a fresh look of translucent flesh tones in the portrait with unique color changes\, which will add to the excitement of capturing the magic of children. \nStudents will have an opportunity to work from their photographs or Janet’s. Our goals will be to “see” in new ways – bringing “life” and interpretation to the portrait and figure\, and to discover intuitive color and design. \nArtist Statement\n“I love the fluid nature of watercolor. To me\, the interaction of artist with the medium is like a dance – full of motion\, feeling\, and expression. Discovering new color and composition as the painting develops is my joy. As a teacher\, my goal is to enable students to find their connections with watercolor in new and expressive ways.” – Janet Rogers\, AWS \nDates & Time\nNovember 15-16\, 2026\n9:30 am – 4:00 pm \nLocation\nHester Wagner House\n6100 Hall Road\, Melbourne\, FL 32904 \nCost\n$275 for BWS members\n$325 for non members\n$50 deposit required by 11/1/26 to reserve your spot \nContact\nLaurie Griffin at (321) 544-3041 or lbgriffi@att.net \nRegistration\nWe’re sorry\, this workshop is full.
